Upon searching the Scriptures, I found that the first time the word saviour appeared was in the old testament, in 2Sa 22:3,
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: [he is] my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. |
Saviour here, in Hebrew is ישע (yasha`), which appears 205 times in the old testament, where reading from right to left, means the hand (or power) of God is revealed (or seen), hallelujah!
This really blow my mind, as usually we associate the power of God with mighty exploits such as casting out of demons or extraordinary healing. But what it means here is that when Jesus willing laid down His life for us, as our Saviour, on the cross was the moment that the power of God was at its fullest glory.
Oh, this really encourages me greatly. For whenever we feel weak, discouraged or defeated and that God seems so far away, all we need to do is to look at the cross, where the power of God was demonstrated. Today, this same power is residing in us, awaiting to be used by us for His glory, AMEN!
